If Robinson Crusoe had expert building skills and planned to open a tourist resort, the Sanbis Resort off Gizo may be what he would have imagined. Instead, the designer/owner of this new Eco-Lodge in the majestic Solomon Islands has taken his vision of heaven-on-earth and made it a reality.
Crystal clear waters surround the lodge, as it is affectionately known, with 6 private bungalows offering escape and relaxation for guests. Each bungalow features a private verandah as well as a personal beach on which to relax. Spend your Solomon Islands holidays drinking fresh coconut water, swimming around vibrant coral reefs, catching that night’s dinner, sunbathing on the beach, reading a book or actively playing an intense game of table tennis. The Sanbis Resort is an ideal holiday spot for letting go, having fun and getting to know the locals, with friendly, helpful staff always open for a chat and some even showing you around their village to provide a truly in-depth cultural experience.
In order to preserve the pristine beauty surrounding the resort, every effort has been taken to ensure the operating of Sanbis and guests’ stays leave little impact on the local environment. The “Eco-Friendly Luxury” experienced during your stay at Sanbis Resort comes from a combination of efforts by locals and tourists, including serving only fresh, local, in season foods, solar-powered lighting, waste-recycling, sustainable resources in the construction of the resort and reforestation (the resort planted roughly 5 trees to every 1 they fell during construction). Eco-Friendly doesn’t mean sacrificing amenities and luxury, however, and the resort provides entertainment, internet, free charging of batteries for electrical devices and so much more.
Treat yourself to an exclusive My Solomons stay at Sanbis Resort and not only feel amazing during your stay, but return knowing you have also taken your part in caring about the local environment. Fresh food, gorgeous water, privacy, and relaxation – it truly is an island paradise.

Dear Chloe, We recently returned from our Solomon Island Holiday and loved it. It's fifty years since my husband lived on Malaita Island which has changed little but offers a truly unique experience for the intrepid tourist. There was no Fatboys off Gizo or Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara fifty years ago, they both offer a simple yet very rewarding experience with a difference. We have recommended this destination to friends interested in the Coast Watchers and WWII history, the JFK connection is fascinating. Oh, and Solomon Airlines has 'the' most comfortable and spacious economy class seats that we have ever come across. While not a glitz and glamour holiday, it was definitely value for money and we hope to return next year. We thank you for booking a magical holiday and we look forward to booking with you in the future. Regards.
My partner, Don G, & I have recently returned from a delightful holiday in the Solomon Islands. Having travelled there previously as independent travellers in 1985 & 1997, we were a trifle wary of booking a package deal. Now, however, we are complete converts! Everything flowed so smoothly & with people to meet & greet us, or wave us off all along the way, it was a totally worry-free experience. Despite the decidedly inclement weather, we very much enjoyed our stay at Fatboys & found the staff remarkably friendly & helpful & eager to utilise any sunshine for boat trips to the nearby islands. And after 30 years, Honiara was a pleasant surprise as well, especially the Heritage Park Hotel whose staff could not have been kinder. However our greatest plaudits go to our guide, John Au & driver, Glen Siru from Travel Solomons who conducted our Wold War Two Historical & Cultural Tour. This, I thought, would have been of little interest, but John’s intimate & extensive knowledge, as well as his totally professional delivery, made for a truly fascinating experience. In fact we enjoyed our holiday so much, that we are planning to return next year in either June or July. Congratulations on hosting such an efficient travel service. Sincerely, Althea W
Hi Christy, Had a great time at Fatboys resort. The staff were brilliant and looked after us, as we had the place to ourselves for the first 4 days!! Snorkelling paradise and snorkelled on a wwII fighter plane. You need to promote this spot, as it is glorious. Col and Linda C
